Diabetes Lobby Day at the Capitol

Diabetes Lobby Day a Huge Success
On May 8, Diabetes awareness advocates gathered in Springfield for the 3rd Annual Diabetes Lobby Day. The day was an incredible success with the level and scope of participation far exceeding last year's involvement. The day began with an advocate welcome in the Capitol Rotunda.

A healthy lunch was provided, and then advocates spent the afternoon visiting with legislators to lobby for House Bills 1815 and 2199 (both now on the Governor's desk). Later in the afternoon, advocates and legislators gathered for a ribbon cutting at the new American Diabetes Association Office on Chatham Road in Springfield, which was followed by a "Contribute for Campers" fundraiser to raise funds for Camp Granada in Monticello. Government Consulting, Illinois Beer Distributors and the Governor's Mansion served as sponsors for the fundraiser.
